Drag and create a rider grid, then color the map grids for the number of students/riders in each grid.
This is a very useful feature for expanding school districts.

Lynx will automatically calculate the number of students in the grid and print out a map with a legend.

1. Added and updated the QuickBooks interface to Work Orders and Fuel Entries. To use this feature you will need to go into Utilities>Setup Options>QuickBooks and setup the QBW file and the default accounts for the Vendor and GL Account. In addition you will need to setup each "Fuel Type" for QuickBooks. Every Fuel Type has a Checking account and Vendor that needs to be setup with a QuickBooks account. To do this go to Lists>Fuel Types and go through each Fuel Type that you would like to post to QuickBooks and setup the accounts accordingly.

2. Added RouteCheckList report for printing all route checklists at once. Goto Reports>Run Custom Reports and click the "Up one level" button on the top of the dialog and select RouteChecklist.rpt.

3. Added "Update Stop Information" use this utility only if you need to generate stop reports with the exact locations of each pickup, i.e. some reports in Lynx may show the students home address even though they are picked up at a different location. This utility will update the stop information so that it will show the actual address for each stop.

4. Added a SQL statement that calculates total mileage a bus has driven within a range of dates. TotalBusedMileageForDates.sql

5. Added routine to reset all Student Start and Student End attendance dates. ResetStudentStartEndDates.SQL

1. New Web Access Module (WAM) is now available for Lynx users.
The Lynx WAM allows users i.e. drivers, parents, transportation directors, teachers, et. al. to lookup information on the web about routes, students, etc. The WAM can be password protected and can have user levels setup to prevent certain users from areas within the WAM, e.g. parents cannot view other students information. The WAM makes it easy to get information about student's routes in the hands of the teachers with out the need to publish route reports. For more information contact us at www.rytebyteinc.com.

The WAM is an ISAPI that can be installed on a IIS 5.0 or higher web server. The Lynx data must be accessable to the web server.

1. Added spatial query to the Rider Query dialog. To utilize spatial queries you will first need to create a district map (in the Mapping menu). You can create busing zones based on schools, grades, etc. E.g. to show all students from a particular school(s) and grade(s) simply make the selections then select the Scenerio file and Zone with in that Scenerio file to use. Run the query and a list of students with those parameters is displayed in the results. Click on the Map button to display a map of the students.

For instance: you now have more than just the plain AM, PM and Transfer routes, e.g. AM Middle/High School Routes, Noon Transfer Routes. To setup the Route Types go to Lists>Routes>Update Route Types and add all of the route types you use for your organization. After that go to each route and set its route type in the Route Update dialog.

36. Added graphical route editing, i.e. you can change the routes within the Map View. IMPORTANT! The Calculate Stop Times (automatic) and Print Map buttons no longer exist. They have been replaced with a "Show Map/Edit Route" option at the top of the Route Menu. You can specify Arrival/Depart times here, print the route map, and modify the positions (geocodes) of the stops. After exiting you will be asked if you want to load your changes (from the route map) into Lynx. Items like: stop times, stop duration/load time, stop position changes, driving speeds, driving costs are all saved back to Lynx from the map.

1.You can now add "Route Via"s to routes. Open a route map window in Lynx. Click once on the segment you wish to move to another area, after the segment turns blue simply drag it to another area.The Route Via will show up in the stops pane as a "**Route Via" stop.
2 Added a "Send Tech Support E-Mail (web)" to the help menu. Use this email option to send us your idea or when you have trouble using Lynx.
3. Moved "Send Tech Support E-Mail (pop3) to the help menu from the File Menu. This needs to be setup before it is used, i.e. you must have a local pop3 server to send email through in order to use it.

1. Added new Summary report feature. Show passenger names when a Dropoff school is specified. Here's how it works:
Setup a route with several stops
The first and last stop MUST be from a terminal location,e.g. Bus Garage
Actual times must be entered for every stop
If a stop is at a school you must identify it by selecting the school in the Stop Properties>"If this is a school, which one?" list box. ***WARNING*** No other passengers can be listed under this stop, i.e. it must be the only entry for that stop.
Total time in minutes is calculated at the top of the report provided Actual Stop Times are entered or calculated for each stop.
The report is located in the Route Menu under Additional Reports>Summary Route Report w/Student Drop-offs

3. Added new fields in the Student Dialog: Mailing Address, Mailing City, State and Zip.
4. Added new field in the Student Dialog to indicate that a students mapped address has been manually geocoded. This prevents an automated program from overwriting the Lat/Lon data for that student.
5. BUG FIX: took care of problem when automatically calculating stop times for routes. You must still make sure all stops in a route are valid AND all stops are sequential i.e. run a Partial Resort from the Routes Menu.
6. Added MailingAddress as a field in the letter writing components of Lynx. If is selected in a merge letter and no Mailing Address exists than the main address is used for the student.

7. BUG FIX: when entering new students you previously had to skip to and from a record to see the updated map position of the address. This has been modified to update the map position as soon as you click the "Post" button..
8. ENHANCEMENT: Added an option to update the data structures from within Lynx. Select the Utilities menu, then the "Update Data Structures�" option. Prior versions of Lynx required you to exit Lynx and run the routine from the Lynx Folder.
9. ENHANCEMENT: You can now save a Lat/Lon pair from one student in the Student dialog and "paste" it to any other student(s). There is a new button to the right of the Longitude in the Additional Info tab of the student dialog. Click this button when: you what to copy the contents of the Lat/Lon to the clipboard. To paste a Lat/Lon make sure that both the Lat/Lon fields are empty first. Simply click on the new button and the blank fields will be populated with the last Lat/Lon pair you copied.

21. Fix for drag and drop into invalid zones on grids. Corrects a problem when use drags students to invalid areas on Route and Stops panes. This usually caused an Access Violation error.
22. Query Dialog. Ctrl-A selects all query results.
23. StreetConversions.ini file is now set to the "C:\Lynx" directory for all Lynx applications, i.e. you do not have to copy it to the "c:\Lynx\Utilities" directory.

26. Utility Menu. Enabled the Backup feature. You can now backup your data at any time. The backup creates a subfolder within the currently selected dataset. If you answer YES to the "Make a dated backup?" prompt Lynx will create a subfolder with the current date as the name. We recommend you use this at least once a month.

1. Students dialog. For non-geocoded addresses Lynx will now require a valid zipcode. Should the zipcode be invalid Lynx will indicate that the address cannot be mapped.
2. RECOMMENDATION: To all users: identify Federal Highways as US-, State Highways as SR- and County Roads as CR-. These are approved road designations by the US Postal Service. Examples: "US Hwy 12" would now be "US-12", "State Hwy 27" would now be "SR-27" and "County Trunk T" would now be listed as "CR-T"
3. Students Dialog. For all invalid, non-geocoded addresses Lynx will identify what it thinks is causing the problem, i.e. the part of the address that is invalid, e.g. if the Postal Code is bad "Postal Code" will show up in red.
